Melissa J. Kessler is the Associate Director of the Gitenstein Institute for Health Law & Policy at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and the Coordinator for the Hofstra Bioethics Center. Ms. Kessler has been developing projects and bringing these concepts to life since 2011 when she began her work with the Hofstra Bioethics Center. There, she assisted the Center’s co-directors with symposia, academic offerings and the creation of a successful Certificate in Bioethics program, currently headed into its 4th year. As the Bioethics Center expanded, and the Gitenstein Institute was established in 2013, she began to develop community outreach programs tailored to meet the needs of the local community, serviced by law students concentrating in Health Law. In addition to building community outreach programs, Ms. Kessler develops and implements other student-driven projects for the Institute including professional development series and community education projects. Prior to joining Hofstra, Ms. Kessler worked in marketing and healthcare.
